I sometimes remember a previous life
When the gods smiled on me and made you my wife Now the gods in return for my previous bliss Have taken revenge and reduced me to this A man who could dream though his dreams came to naught Weaving desperate words as he eagerly sought To capture the love of the girl of his dreams Who wanted no part in his poetic schemes So I bid you farewell and with no backwards glance Fade gently away from this mad romance And I pray to the gods that when I return We'll meet yet again and my love you'll not spurn |
