"Why do you need to publish this",she said
A fair question and difficult to answer: I'd like it if these lines were ever read A message from the now to the hereafter Though any love for me, you had, has faded As reality supplants your need for dreams And your appetite for me has become jaded As you no longer need me in your schemes Now you have ended this I must concede My love is gone so let's not dwell upon it But let this live whilst yet a man can read As the bard suggested in his famous sonnet 'So long as man can breathe, or eyes can see So long lives this, and this gives life to thee' |
