This morning when I woke she was not here
Such loneliness, my love, I cannot bear
That warmth engendered when she was so near
Now fades and breaks my heart beyond repair
For in her eyes I saw the moon and stars
And with her smile my life was bathed in light
Faint memories revived as from afar
Sweet echoes as of a lover's rite
So is this to be the end of life so real?
Now must I live my dreams all in the past?
Is this my fate? To now no longer feel
Her warmth, but to remember, first and last,

...Since time began no sight was e'er so fair
...As Magdalena letting down her hair
