Chapter 82 Thai Timeshare Ladies: Timeshare operations have an unenviable reputation throughout the world and here in Thailand they are no exception. Many are the complaints of tourists who have been sold a timeshare which not only seemed too good to be true but was. One of my favourite moments in my bar was when a local very dodgy timeshare operator was asked, "Didn't your company go broke and everbody lose their money"? After a brief pause the reply was, "No that is not f-cking true. We did not go f---ing broke, we sold out to another f-cking company. Nobody lost their f-cking money." And after a brief pause. "Except the f-cking clients." But this is not the sort of timeshare I had in mind. A few years ago a young Danish man wandered into our bar looking confused and upset. "What's the problem?" we asked. The problem was simple. Four months before he had met a beautiful young Thai girl, and fallen in love. Since then he had been sending her generous amounts of money and had come back two days ago to meet her and take her back to Denmark to marry her. She had met him at the airport and given him a bouquet, taken him back to a hotel and they had had a warm welcoming night. The next evening she said that she had to go out. He was surprised but off she went. He soon realized that the contents of his wallet had also gone. She did not return. He told us her name and we in turn informed him that she had about five farangs on the go at the moment. Welcome to the Thai timeshare ladies scheme. It is sad to day that it is common here and many farangs have been disappointed and cheated by their partners. Which brings me to the reason I needed to write this. There is a lady of my aquaintance here in Phuket for whom I have the greatest respect. She is a lady who is honest, intelligent and good to be with. A couple of years ago she formed a liaison with a rich America guy who she is proud to say gives her a lot of money. I think it's a "look at me, look how important I am, this rich man likes me so much that he gives me lots of money". In itself this is a bit sad but it gets worse. She has been telling me for sometime that she keeps getting awful headaches. I suggested that her relationship with the American was less than perfect. However something happened a couple of days ago which both upset me and I think made it easier to fathom out the reason for her headaches. A mutual contact made it obvious to me that the lady had another farang boyfriend with whom she was sleeping. Unfortunately the evidence was compelling. A DNA test could have found her blood group.
