Chapter 91 All in a night's work Bangtao is a tourist area renowned for it's sexually relaxed environment. In fact there is enough sexual activity here to ensure that most people are deeply miserable. That is to say , that the ones who believe, at least at some level, that sex should be related to love are deeply miserable. Farangs arrive here and fall deeply in love with the first lady who shows them some affection, and provides them with sex. And the local girls are only too happy to provide them with these two vital neccessities, albeit at a price.So there we have it, a man in love with ex and a woman in love with his money. This I am sad to say is not a recipe for happiness. Quite the contrary in fact. My favourite psychologist Eric Fromm made this quite clear in his book on love. He defined two sorts of love. The first is immature love and the second is mature love. Immature love is when you love somebody because you need them. Like a small child loves it's mother because without it's mother it cannot survive. And mature love is when you need someone because you love them. What happens here is that the man "loves" the woman because she provides him with sex he needs and the woman "loves" the man because he provides her with the money she needs. The problem with this is that it is controlled by selfish self interest and actually at that level not anything to do with love. it is almost always short lived though i have known cases when it has developed into real mature love. But in general it leads to frustration and a melancholic realization that life is not good. ...........................................
